Are There Morally Problematic Reasons for Having Children?

Abstract

While we may empathize with a parents desperate desire to save the life of an endangered child, most of us also have lingering moral discomfort at the prospect of consciously and deliberately setting out to create a child, with the use of all available technology, as a source of spare parts for another child.
